Its always like that, you start a blog and you start doing it very often in the beginning and later on you start to decent a bit in the number of blogs. To make this myth true, is here a blog about my first day in India - Chennai. At 7pm local time i reached the house where liny lives. I was picked up by her mum and two cousins as predicted. There we took a cab that brought us to a nice coffee place. Where I had a strawberry smoothy with mint and another chicken tikka sandwich. Once home I crashed almost straight away into bed and slept. We didn't need to pick up Liny, which should arrive at 11pm because her flight had problems. Namely, the cabin pressure had a failure of the airplane that needed to bring Liny to Chennai. Therefore the plane needed to turn around and move all the luggage to a good airplane, This all took about five to 6 hours, Therefore her new arrival time was 4pm.
So at 4pm in the morning we where again at the airport and this time Liny's dad was there as well. Once home again I went off for again a bit of sleep.
Today is also the last day of an India festival that is called "Ayudha Pooja" or "Dussera" In this festival people appreciate the belongings that they have. The also decorade the things they appreciate. They decorate then for example their cars, bikes and shops They do this with sow called garlands flowers and banana leafs. But the way I found out about the festival was due to the decoration called "Sandlewood Powder" This is some kind of yellow mixture that looks the same as mud i think. They just flair it on their cars and windows. I Thought initially that the cars where just dirty, but it turned out that it was intended dirt ;).
After breakfast today we went to a shopping mall with an "auto" this is the little three weel machine where pictures will be uploaded up as soon as I have proper internet. The internet is so slow, that reading you're hotmail is a sometimes impossible.
Nevertheless, at the shoppingmall I bought a new jeans and that came with a free t-shirt. The jeans was half the price that we pay for it in Holland! If you want to buy levi's in holland you pay around 120 euro's The one I got Rs 4300. which is an equivalent of around 60 euro's. Also underwear is cheap. Branded underwear for around 3 euro a piece. I also bought somas t-shirt, where they ask minimum 10 euro's for in Holland, and where i paid about 3 euro for. So its really nice shopping around here.
After shopping we went home, and there was Liny's mum making Crab Curry. This is Liny's favourite. It is basically a complete crab, but in the pan, and afterwards you break it open and eat. I really enjoyed the taste of it :-). I really had a lot of food, so I was very full afterwards. I had aside of that crab, chicken fry curry, beans curry and lassie (sour milk or Karnemelk) Straight after lunch we went of to see a government museum. There where all kinds of relics, fossils and statues of gods of india are displayed.
Once home I felt tired. It was around 7pm and I was up around 4am to pick up Liny. However, they suggested to go to this new shopping mall. So we went. They asked me whether I would like to stay at home, but I was interested. We would meet an uncle and ant from lint there.
I went there on the back of the motor of Liny's cousin. On the bike I felt the nice braes while we went through the busy traffic of Chennai.
Once at the shopping mall it turned out that it was extremely busy! In the shoppingmall we could find basically all the shops that you can also find on the high streets in London. From body shop to Marks and Spencer. There I also found the first wireless internet so I could upload the previous blog. Once home I slept of at around 10pm and slept untill 1pm the next day. Once awake we went out for lunch. Now Im sitting in Liny's house while the others are bringing the cousins to the train to go back home. I was asked to get some more rest but unfortunately the airco is not working properly, so sleeping with 30 degrees is not yet that possible. Therefore I decided to check out whether the internet was working her now. It turned out that is works so thereby now this blog.
Once more, pictures will come when I have a good internet connection,so might take a couple of days/weeks.
Some pictures around the shopping mall.
On the road in Chennai
The green thing is a trade mark of the “'auto’s” (the little yellow cars are called like that)
In the museum I had to pay 200 rupees to make some photo’s therefore I shoot a lot, but to much to upload. Therefore I give an impression of how the place looked and how it was filled with bats in the trees. The gods that i liked the most are also given. The god of dance (left) and the couple god "SHIVA and PARVATHI” (right)
