India Fact 5 - Television Cuts

At the moment I'm waiting to get on the half 1 in the morning bus to Chennai and I am killing the time by watching "the ugly truth". In the movie all the sexist scenes are cut even though the movie starts at 11pm, which is more of an adult time anyways. It shows a bit in what kind of protected environment Indians are growing up and living which can be compared to the sexist environment the European people grow up.

India Fact 4 - Corruption Example Two

In GOA the police is very tight these days and especially during season time. Last year a lot of problems were there due to loud music from beach bars. Therefore a rule has been tightened from 10pm to 9pm to be quite for all bars. However, if you pay the cops some money, you are allowed to tune up the music until a time you pay them ;-)

India Fact 3 - Corruption Example one

Alcohol is very precious for some reason in India. Every booze shop you see, you find a whole bunch of guys waiting to be served. In some states booze is cheaper than in others which make people transport it. To transport alcohol between states you need to get a permit. When you are being checked you need to show the permit and it should be fine. However I experienced that a guy got checked weather be was having booze on him and he had. He showed the people (5 big guys) his permit but they didn't care about the permit and made the guy pay them anyway.

India Fact 2 - Train Booking

Travel by train in India? Plan you're journey way in advance! Trains are overbooked in India. Each train is fully booked, months in advance of departure. Even though the trains are endlessly long and every year loads of new coaches are added, there is never a single seat open. Maybe you have seen those indian trains where everyone is hanging out? This is probably the general class coach. On this coach the people who where not able to reserve a seat are occupied. There is no limit to the number of general bookings so imagine how full it can become. Most probably those people tried to use the emergency booking system which is a booking system for people who travel last minute. Tickets are limited and once all emergency seats are gone you come on a reservation list. This means that when there is a last minute cancelation you can get a seat. The chance that you get tickets for a journey is therefore small if you don't know the right people. It is possible to bribe conductors through agencies who know them.

In sleeper and general no dust bins are available, therefore everything goos straight out the window. From little wrappers to left overs and plates from meals.
